In an era when the retail landscape is characterized by oversized chain stores, True Value is a $2 billion entrepreneur-owned hardware cooperative that is committed to the success of the independent hardware store. As True Value was responding to the business realities of its market they undertook several strategies to make their concept more viable over the long term, such as changing their store format and launching a national marketing initiative. Crawford/Mikus assisted by developing materials to communicate changes in their benefits plans—changes that would allow True Value to maintain its competitive edge.
